Report States, Ripple Has Sold 5,000,000,000 XRP In 27 Months
A new report highlights the total number of sold XRP since December of 2017. Ripple is the leading cryptocurrency which is in the third position after Bitcoin and Ethereum in market cap with a valuation of $9.4 billion. Ripple has not revealed the report of the total number of XRP sold but it publishes quarterly reports on the dollar value of the XRP it sells.
Backed in 2017 December, Ripple had locked 55 billion of its XRP which is 55% of its total supply. It was kept in cryptographically secured escrow accounts to manage the sale of its digital asset. Each month Ripple releases 1 billion XRP through its escrow program and it will continue for the next 28 months. Once the company sells a portion of the 1 billion XRP that was released in the month, it returns the remainder into escrow.
The report by XRPArcade states that Ripple has unlocked 27 billion XRP in 27 months from which it returned 21.6 billion back into escrow. After calculating, the company sold 5.4 XRP, an average of 200 million XRP every month.
From the past few months, ripple has slow down the sales of its XRP on cryptocurrency exchanges. The company’s last XRP Markets Report, reveals that the company has sold zero XRP in the fourth quarter on cryptocurrency exchanges and over the counter, it sold 13.08 billion worth of XRP.
