Bitcoin Acceptance Increased Dramatically In Venezuela During Hyperinflation
Venezuela's country is still facing hyperinflation and that leads to more and more businesses accepting cryptocurrency.
The country is promoting crypto adoption in the period of hyperinflation and as a result, 20,000 shops and businesses in Venezuela will start accepting cryptocurrency by 1st June.
Today, Panama-based cryptocurrency merchant-gateway startup Cryptobuyer made an announcement regarding its partnership with Venezuelan company Mega Soft. The company Mega Soft processes payments for thousands of local businesses via its platform called “Merchant Server.”
The Merchant Server will now accept cryptocurrencies such as (BTC), Ether (ETH), Dash (DASH), Litecoin (LTC), Tether (USDT) and many more along with fiat. Merchants who receive payments in cryptocurrencies are able to instantly settle them to fiat or save them for future use.
Last year, Venezuela’s hyperinflation rate hit 10M percent that made it inefficient to store VES, the local sovereign currency, for longer than one day. As per the local reports, the inflation has been slowing down and cryptocurrencies remain a much more stable medium of exchange in Carcas.
In the email received by Cointelegraph, it says that cryptocurrencies are even more convenient for everyday shopping in countries like Venezuela than foreign fiat currencies:
“The use of cash like US Dollars is complicated by many times not having the necessary change at the time of a purchase forcing people to buy more products than they need is here where the use of cryptocurrencies is much more versatile in countries where payment systems are inefficient”
Venezuela has more than 400 stores that use Cryptobuyer’s solution and running successfully which includes a Burger King branch in the Sambil area of Caracas. The businesses will now start activating the crypto-friendly system in thousands of “Merchant Server”-affiliated businesses.
