Square Funds Designer To Make User Friendly Bitcoin Wallets
“Square Crypto” is the crypto-focused division of payment solutions provider Square has made an announcement that it is giving a grant to Maggie Valentine, a San Francisco-based freelance graphics designer.
Square was established in February 2009 and it's 11 years olf just like Bitcoin (BTC). The co-founders of Square are Jack Dorsey (who is also the company’s Chairman and CEO), Jim McKelvey, and Tristan O’Tierney.
In March 2019, Square Crypto was “designed to strengthen the bitcoin ecosystem” as stated by the product manager Steve Lee in his tweets:
On 30th October, Square Crypto broke the news that it is giving a grant to Valentine, who is the Design Lead at she256 (which is focused on “initiatives in breaking down barriers to entry and increasing diversity in the blockchain space”).
As per Square Crypto, Valentine is “a designer working to simplify wallet onboarding flows by reducing technical jargon and increasing user education.”
Back on 8th October, Square purchased approximately 4,709 bitcoins at an aggregate purchase price of $50 million. It also stated that Square “believes that cryptocurrency is an instrument of economic empowerment and provides a way for the world to participate in a global monetary system, which aligns with the company’s purpose.”
