Scammers Using Joe Rogan Identity For Awful Bitcoin scam
A new cryptocurrency scam has come up which involves popular podcast host Joe Rogan tricking the people into participating in a free BTC giveaway. Impersonating Joe Rogan the scammers are stealing people’s Bitcoin.
The Whale Alert bot warned its users on Twitter on Monday that someone has sent 1 BTC worth $9,195 to a confirmed giveaway scam. The crypto scammers are using Rogan and right-wing commentator Ben Shapiro identity to fool Bitcoin owners into sending BTC to the given address with a hope to get more back in return.
“Joe Rogan and Ben Shapiro believe that blockchain and bitcoin will make the world more fair. To speed up the process of cryptocurrency mass adoption, we decided to run a 5,000 BTC giveaway.”
As per the Scam Alert, scammers have set up the website with a counter that updates visitors on the number of BTC that will supposedly be given away. Till now they have received $30,944 through five payments averaging $6,188 each.
It seems that crypto thieves have moved on from being fake Elon Musk in the last month. Previously, Elon Musk, Tesla CEO identity was used digitally for bitcoin scam by using vanity wallets and it managed to steal $2 million worth of BTC.
