Iran Says Yes To Bitcoin And Drops Gold
As per a Bloomberg report, many central banks worldwide are selling their god.
In the past few weeks, gold has recorded an uprise in price and this has led central banks to start dropping their gold in a bid to manage the economy.
The change is a part of life as we all know and one of the most exciting changes is that Iranian authorities officially announced that Bitcoin would be used for international transactions.
With this move, Iran becomes the first country in the world to use Bitcoin as a medium of exchange. Miners will sell their mined bitcoins legally to the Central bank to fund imports from other countries.
Cryptocurrencies in Iran were illegal until 2019 when it issued its regulation. Iran could be considered a neutral country towards cryptocurrencies. U.S. sanctions are pressuring Iran's economy which becomes impossible for them to use the dollar in international trades.
Iran’s fiat currency has been falling for the past 2 years and with COVID-19 it worsened.
Making mining of bitcoin legal in the country, Iran will bypass the U.S. sanction while participating in international trades.
Iran is the only first example where the central bank is turning towards bitcoin in the middle of a national economic crisis. As the days pass, there will be many central banks that will accept cryptocurrencies.
