Hackers Of Massive Twitter Hack Are Now Out
US authorities have charged a British man, a Florida man, and a Florida teen in a connection with a Twitter hack of prominent politicians, celebrities, and technology moguls to scam people around the globe out of more than USD 100,000 in Bitcoin. A 17-year-old teen, Graham Ivan Clark was arrested Friday in Tampa, where the Hillsborough State Attorney’s Office will prosecute him as an adult.
The hackers were able to take control over the access of accounts of high profile personalities, including former US President Barack Obama and the current Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Kanye West, and many others. Hackers posted fake Tweets from the compromised accounts soliciting bitcoins from trd, 19heir accounts in promise to double them. Another two suspects Mason Sheppa and Nima Fazeli were charged in California federal court for their alleged Twitter hack role. The recent Twitter hack was massive and most high-profile security breaches in recent years.
The US Attorney David L Anderson, for the Northern District of California, said, “there is a false belief within the criminal hacker community that attacks like the Twitter hack can be perpetrated anonymously and without consequence.” Previously, Twitter had said that hackers used the phone to fool the social media company’s employees into giving them access. Twitter stated that hackers used a small number of employees through a phone spear-phishing attack. It was revealed that the attack relied on a significant and concerted attempt to mislead certain employees and exploit human vulnerabilities to gain access to our internal systems, which then later were used to hack into the high profile accounts.
