Crypto Friendly Brave Browser Popularity Increased By 125 Percent
Brave Browser is known for its crypto-friendly and privacy-focused features and has announced that it has received 15 million monthly active users and around 5.3 million daily active users.
There is an increase of almost 50% since the launch of Brave 1.0 in November 2019 and more than 5 million monthly users are reported compared to its December 2019 report.
According to Ray Walsh, a digital expert at ProPrivacy said, “Consumers are waking up to the tracking performed by Big Tech and moving en masse to services that promise to do better.” He believes that Brave’s milestone is proof that “Consumers are voting with their feet, a trend that we will continue to see long into the future.”
The brave browser supports “private by design” advertisements a feature that pays viewers in its cryptocurrency, the Basic Attention Token (BAT). The tokens are also enabled to donate to content creators.
Many major brands such as Verizon, PayPal, Amazon, and Intel are attracted to these advertisements. The campaigns are being run in 183 countries and have a click-through-rate of 9 percent, compared to the industry average of 2 percent, said Brave.
Brave CEO Brendan Eich, states that 12% of these users make use of the browser’s crypto features that lead to more adoption of Bitcoin and crypto on the web.
Brave browser this year introduced a Zoom-like video conferencing tool, Binance trading widget and a way to quickly access offline websites through the Wayback Machine. Currently, the company is also working on working on its VPN called VPN⁰, however, it is yet a confirmed browser feature.
