Bitcoin Scam Is Reported In Winnipeg Grocery Store
The residents of Winnipeg, Canada have been targeted for Bitcoin scams. One of the local grocery store owners shared that many of his customers were victims of scammers.
As per the Global News, the store owner, Husni Zeid has placed a signboard on the Bitcoin machine the one he has in his store, asking people to be alert regarding phone scams that ask for fake Bitcoin investments.
He said, "A lot of people are getting phone calls saying that they have to transfer the money to Bitcoin regarding CRA; we've had Manitoba Hydro as well."
He highlighted that scams took place multiple times within a week due to which they keep receiving many complaints.
The grocery store employee, Aura Morissette shared the story of a woman who was affected by the scam, "Yesterday (a) mom was in here and she said she gave all her savings to them and she was just crying. It was heartbreaking that she fell for it; it was sad, and all she kept saying was 'I have kids.' (It) was awful."
