Bitcoin Network Scored 22.3 million active addresses in January
January was a record-breaking month for the Bitcoin network. There were about 22.3 million unique addresses, actively sending or receiving BTC. This chart-buster milestone was spotted by crypto market data aggregator Glassnode, who tweeted that January saw the highest monthly number of unique active addresses in Bitcoin’s history till date.
The new record beats the previous milestone of 21 million active Bitcoin wallets recorded in December 2017. Since then, the number of unique bitcoin addresses has not fallen below 10 million per month.
Even though the number of unique active addresses increased, Glassnode noted that on the Bitcoin network, the number of “active entities” has decreased after the all-time high price recorded at the beginning of January. As per Glassnode, an entity is “a cluster of addresses that are controlled by the same network entity.”
The trades volumes of the world’s largest cryptocurrency also increased and reached new record levels, as Bitcoin jumped to highest price $42,000 on Jan. 8
On Feb. 2, Kraken- U.S. based exchange also announced that more transactional volume was processed during January 2021 compared to January 2019. Assets around $56 billion were exchanged on this platform last month.
