Beware From Binance Fake Ethereum 2.0 Giveaway Scam
This year has witnessed a large number of giveaway scams in the crypto industry. Many crypto experts and companies have educated investors to not fall into such scams but scammers keep going on with the latest events.
Today, binance giveaway scam is trending leveraging the Ethereum 2.0 recent deposit contract announcement as bait.
The giveaway scheme was seen on a domain (“https://ethlaunches.com/“), a totally different site from the official Binance web address. The scammers replicate Binance’s notification section, but the message on the web page contained few grammatical mistakes, and the clickable options were non-functional and redirected to the fake Binance giveaway homepage.
The message on the website states that they were giving away 10,000 ETH, which is worth $4,310,000 following the current price of Ether (ETH) at $431 on Coinmarketcap. This giveaway scam was planned to celebrate Ethereum 2.0 pre-release. The participants were asked to send a minimum of 2 ETH ($862) or 50 ETH ($21,550) at maximum to give ETH address, which will be refunded in double.
This was a clear fake binance giveaway scam as it raises the question that how a leading crypto exchange would ask for cryptocurrencies and that will return double their deposits.
The rise of the cryptocurrency industry also brings so many fake giveaways and investment platforms. Each crypto user must stay alert when dealing with certain crypto platforms, especially new projects.
