Airlines Passengers Will Get Bitcoin In Compensation For Flight Delay
Have you ever heard that you will get compensation in crypto if your flight gets delayed?
Well, Bulgarian app Colibra is offering a means for air travelers delayed for any reason to receive compensation in crypto.
Due to the pandemic, the air industry is experiencing flight delays and cancellations. To solve such a problem, a startup in Bulgaria is providing the option for travelers to receive compensation in Bitcoin.
Passengers will get compensation for the delay of the flight delay of one hour or more through the Colibra app. The startup has been offering compensation to the passengers since they have started the service in 2019 but now they have added crypto as a payment option.
As the price of BTC keeps on changing, the passengers can choose whether they want to lock in the price on the day they register for their flight or the day they travel.
The Colibra app guarantees to pay in Bitcoin to any passengers whose flight is delayed by one hour or more no matter what reason the airline provides.
As per the EU guidelines, the airlines have to pay compensation to any passenger for delays of three hours or more which are the company’s fault. The app works for those passengers who were delayed for more than one hour. However, as per the startup the chance of experiencing a 90-minute airline delay is 30 times greater than a three-hour one, so travelers get compensated more often.
In France, AXA insurance company has used a blockchain-based compensation process for passengers whose flights are delayed for more than two hours.
