Thailand Gives Approval For Sixth Crypto Exchange
It looks that Thailand is soon going to become a cryptocurrency hub. The government of Thailand has approved a sixth cryptocurrency exchange.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has given a license for a crypto exchange company called ERX which will operate as a trading platform for those looking to purchase and sell digital currencies. Thailand gets sixth crypto exchange with ERX and other exchanges include BX, Huobi, Zip Mex, and Satang Pro, to name a few.
Thailand has now become a home for digital asset brokers in Coins TH, Bitazza, and Kulap. The permitted companies are allowed to offer crypto custody services which means that clients and customers able to do business within Thailand’s borders can request that these companies store their crypto stashes on their platforms. Although the abilities of these companies differ from crypto exchanges and thus they cannot facilitate trades in the same manner.
Currently only coins TH is permitted to deal with cryptocurrencies while Kulap is still in its early stage.
The SEC has also given approval for many initial coin offerings (ICOs) within Thailand with major ones coming from Longroot, T-Box, SE Digital, and BiTherb, to name a few. BiTherb is not functional yet, while others are planning quick releases of their coins.
Thailand is known for its clear and effective cryptocurrency laws across the globe. The country has cleared the question of what digital assets are and what trading involves. The country has classified all crypto exchanges as financial institutions – similar to banks – and requires all anti-money laundering and know your customer (KYC) protocols to be in place.
