Solana ETFs Surge Past XRP with $1.91 Billion in Assets, Indicating Strong Institutional Interest
In a significant development in the cryptocurrency market, Solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have overtaken XRP products in total net assets, now standing at $1.91 billion. This milestone follows an impressive inflow of nearly $254 million over just eight days, highlighting a growing institutional interest in Solana despite its smaller market capitalization.
The shift began on September 17, when Solana ETFs first surpassed XRP ETFs, ending that day with $1.42 billion compared to XRP's $1.39 billion. Since then, Solana funds have attracted substantial investments, underscoring a notable preference among investors for Solana exposure.
Interestingly, while XRP remains the larger asset by market cap, Solana's ETF assets now represent approximately 2.74% of its market capitalization, compared to just 1.79% for XRP. This deeper penetration into institutional investment suggests a significant shift in market dynamics.
During the same period, Solana's price surged from around $97 to $122, marking a gain of about 25.8%, while XRP's price increased from $1.29 to $1.53, reflecting an 18.6% rise. Although it's unclear if ETF demand directly influenced these price movements, the overall momentum surrounding Solana is evident.
As of October 2, Solana ETFs have accumulated approximately $1.61 billion in cumulative inflows, closing the gap with XRP's $1.79 billion. The rapid ascent of Solana ETFs, particularly led by Bitwise's dominant fund, suggests that the competition between these two cryptocurrencies is intensifying.
