Santiment Data: XRP Whales Are Dumping Their Coins
As per the Santiment analysis, since the time the SEC filed lawsuit against Ripple, many wallets with large amounts of XRP went down. The data of Santiment shows that wallets holding 10 million XRP and more – worth more than $490,000 – have been on the decline. The moment SEC accusing Ripple news came out, the number of whale addresses dropped by 18.
The US Securities and Exchange Commission has charged Ripple and two of its executives that they allegedly raised over $1.3 billion through an unregistered, “ongoing” securities offering. With Santiment analysis, the larger tier addresses are shrinking, with 18 fewer addresses with 10M+ tokens ($490k+) since the news broke.
Although, there has not been a decline in the number of small XRP wallets that hold less than 10,000 XRP. This shows that small investors continue to hold the crypto despite recent developments.
SEC claimed that Ripple distributed billions of XRP in exchange for “non-cash consideration, such as labor and market-making services.” The filing also indicates that co-founder Chris Larsen and CEO Brad Garlinghouse also “effected personal unregistered sales of XRP totaling approximately $600 million.”
Garlinghouse said on Tuesday that they were expecting the lawsuit. This resulted in the decline of XRP prices which roughly dropped by 17%. On Wednesday morning, XRP fell by almost 25%. At the press time, the XRP is trading at $0.268635.
