Ripple May Move Out Of US To A Crypto Friendly Jurisdiction
In the LA Blockchain Summit, the co-founder and chairman of Ripple, Chris Larsen revealed that they are planning to shift their headquarters out of the United States. The decision was taken after considering the strict regulations of the country over digital currencies as well as for the exchanges. There is a possibility that the Ripple can shift its headquarters to Asia or Europe.
The Ripple chairman in the summit talked about the negative environment for digital currencies in the country which was put by the authorities. He also stated that many cryptocurrency companies in the US had been limited from competing in the global market as a result of the country’s regulation.
This is the reason why they are considering moving Ripple’s headquarters in San Francisco out to a more crypto-friendly jurisdiction.
Chris Larsen said,
“To be honest with you, we’re even looking at relocating our headquarters to a much more friendly jurisdiction.”
However, Larsen has not yet revealed which country they plan to relocate the headquarters. The chairman does mention that few countries in Asia and Europe have a more favorable environment for digital currency companies to operate. Countries such as Singapore, London, Japan, and Switzerland, all of which are expanding to become global Fintech centers.
Larsen pointed out that crypto companies can grow and co-exist with other markets, innovators, and regulators, unlike in the US, where most investors in New York, tech entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley, and Washington lawmakers do not get to understand each other.
The disclosure came soon today when the Blockchain payment company revealed that it had rebranded its Xpring platform to RippleX. The company has also made changes to the management team behind RippleX.
