Professional Gamer Will Now Receive Salary In XRP
Kengo Suzuki is a high-profile gamer who has signed a contract with SBI e-sports and asked for payment in Ripple (XRP) instead of the Japanese Yen.
SBI said in a statement that Kengo “KEN” Suzuki has officially joined the newly-established Super Smash Bros.Ultimate (SSBU) division of SBI e-Sports, the gaming arm of financial giant SBI Holdings.
Talking about KEN, he is a professional player of the crossover action fighting game SSBU by Nintendo. He is also known for one of the world’s leading Wii U Sonic players, ranked as the 9th best player of all time on the PGR100.
Ken confirmed his participation in the SBI e-Sports team through a Twitter post and also mentioned his choice to receive his entire salary in XRP.
Back on 30th September, SBI Holdings made an announcement regarding its e-Sports team that will be sponsored by its crypto trading venture SBI VC Trade Company. This sponsorship deal enables e-Sports professional players like KEN to ask for their salary in Ripple’s native asset XRP.
The Japanese financial giant has been a committed Ripple investor since 2016 and at the same time, they are an active promoter of XRP.
SBI E-sports were launched in June through which it aims to create a professional e-Sports team, develop partnerships with local and international companies, and promote brand awareness.
