No Libra For India Declare Facebook’s Representative

Facebook Libra project is always trending in news and how it has received many positive and negative response. Now Facebook’s Libra is about to face problems in India. Facebook has announced that they have no plans to launch its project in India. This announced was made after the Economic Affairs Secretary Mr. Subhash Garg expressed doubts about Facebook’s Libra project. He stated: “Design of the Facebook currency has not been fully explained. But whatever it is, it would be a private cryptocurrency and that’s not something we have been comfortable with.” Seeing India’s disbelief Facebook’s representative also rebutted on the Indian government. A Facebook representative told Bloomberg Quint in an email that: “There are no plans to offer Calibra in India. As you may know, there are local restrictions within India that made a launch of Calibra not possible at this time.” It seems that after hearing the words of Indian government facebook has no interest in coming up with their project in India. A similar response was given by another Facebook representative Alexandru Voica from London in an email stating that: “Calibra will respect the legislation. But we are looking to work with regulators to see if the legislation can be updated. The Libra Association is speaking to potential partners from around the world. The blockchain project has multiple uses in smart contracts, supply chain management and so on – it’s not just for cryptocurrencies.” A new thing came about facebook Libra project is that it is for multiple use cases from supply chain management to smart contracts. Many people were only aware of their cryptocurrency aspect only. To conclude it, Facebook has clearly stated that it has no plan to bring its project in India at least for now. But noting that Facebook has the largest user base from India, it may sort the things with regulators behind the scene and will launch it in India.
