Microsoft Upgrades Edge Browser To Protect Against Malware And Crypto Miners
Microsoft has taken serious steps for securing the browser by upgrading its Microsoft Edge. Nowadays, cryptocurrency attacks are becoming common and lead to the need for taking preventive measures.
Mostly the illicit crypto miners target the browsers which have low security. The users without been aware become part of the hacking scam. The new Microsoft Edge crypto upgrades come in action where users don't become a part of such malicious crypto software.
Microsoft states that the latest upgrades focus on ‘potentially unwanted applications,’ which includes malicious adware or cryptojackers. These types of apps are automatically downloaded and the user is not aware that some remote crypto-mining hackers are using their computing power.
The users are misled for downloading a code called ‘Cryptojacker’. This code then controls the computing power of the user's device for mining cryptocurrency for a remote miner. There are many websites that provoke the user to download a file which is, in reality, a cryptojacker. Microsoft comes up with disguise after receiving many complaints from the users for unknown applications that were being downloaded and run alongside genuine ones.
The new feature is located at the ‘Privacy and Services’ menu and it remains off by default. Users can turn it on by switching the toggle on under the same settings.
