Microsoft Discover New Malware Targeting Crypto Wallets On Windows
Microsoft team has discovered new windows crypto malware that targets digital currency wallets. Crypto users are warned to be alert regarding fresh malware infecting Windows operating system.
Microsoft Security Intelligence has shared details regarding new Microsoft Windows crypto-malware named Anubis in the latest tweet. Microsoft teams warn users that how crypto wallets installed on MS Windows OS face security threats and users must take steps to stay protected from this threat.
Anubis, the new crypto-malware, uses Loki-related code. It collects users' information stored in the wallet which includes credit card information, personal data, and other data stored in Windows files.
Though many crypto firms are using heavy security features the unscrupulous elements are fast catching up to the crypto realm. The MS Anubis malware was first identified in June 2020 and a similar Trojan called Anubis infects Android smartphones.
MSI has also mentioned how Anubis Microsoft Windows crypto-malware can be controlled easily. Currently, malware is only discovered in limited campaigns including C2 servers and related links.
There are many websites that are spreading Anubis onto MS user’s computers through illegal means or tricks. When users mistakenly install this malware, it further moves to grab the user information from the crypto wallets and then sends the same to other servers using an HTTP POST method.
The team of MSI has said that they will keep observing the malware. The team has warned MS Windows users not to download any spam email or attachment until there is a solution. Users should also avoid clicking any fishy email.
