Leading Crypto Exchange Binance Donates 27,000 COVID19 Masks To NHS
Binance is the world’s biggest crypto exchange that has donated 27,000 KN95 masks to the UK's National Health Service’s Pru Trust to fight against COVID-19.
UK’s Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) is London’s biggest teaching hospital. The hospital is part of the King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust which has more than 11,000 healthcare workers and gives services to more than 326,000 Londoners. The COVID-19 has given the rise to personal protection equipment (PPE) for the healthcare system and its workers.
Binance has revealed its plans to open a crypto exchange and blockchain firm in the U.K.
In a statement given by Dr. Tarun Singhal, head of virology at the Pru Trust said,
“We’d like to thank Binance for being a strong member of our community and contributing to the fight against COVID-19. We hope this contribution will inspire other technology firms in London to contribute to our community as well.”
Binance Charity Foundation digital assets and uses blockchain’s track-and-trace capabilities to make sure donations reach the places they should.
The Binance Charity has launched PPE Token stablecoin with the intention to track the delivery of masks and other equipment to hospitals. As per the company’s blog post, the organization has donated about 1 million PPE masks to hospitals around the world.
In April, Binance donated $1 million to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean as a campaign part of exchange’s Crypto Against COVID.
Binance Charity Foundation chief Helen Hai said,
“at Binance, we wanted to show our support for the NHS in a material way, boosting their PPE supplies which safeguard the health of care workers.”
Further, Ajit Tripathi, one who leads Binance charity efforts in addition to banking partnerships in the U.K. and Europe said,
“Binance represents a new generation of fintech that are committed to the values that inspired blockchain technology. I am personally grateful to the NHS and the PRUH for giving us the opportunity to contribute in this small and meaningful way when it’s most needed.”
