Global Cybersecurity Firm, Kaspersky Brings Blockchain Based Voting System
The globally famous cybersecurity firm, Kaspersky introduces a voting platform built on blockchain technology. The platform was launched on a Wednesday which will offer businesses, schools, universities, and governments a decentralized and secure voting system.
The Verdict UK, Kaspersky reported that the firm has brought a prototype election voting platform developed by Polys, a subsidiary of the Kaspersky Innovation Hub. The decentralized platform will replace the traditional election voting systems.
The firm has named its new system as, “the first of its kind to incorporate blockchain technologies and work alongside the Polys online election system”.
Previously, the online voting system received negative feedback over the Iowa Caucus election drama in which other voters were not able to vote due to a lack of internet or internet-connected devices. Also, the app malfunctions led to bring out only partial results. However, keep these issues in mind, the Kaspersky Polys’ new decentralized election voting blockchain has solved the issues and offered increased security levels.
The Kaspersky’s blockchain system will make the use of QR codes and tokens to cast votes and prevent double voting. It states, “The process works by verified voters being given a unique QR code or token, which is then scanned, allowing them to cast a vote on a Polys Voting Machine with votes then automatically encrypted and counted.”
After casting the vote, the voter can see the validity of their vote and the huge voting process on the blockchain will be accessible to each voter. The voting platform is anonymous and private that enables the voters a free and fair platform to cast their ballot.
