Bitcoin Funds From Twitter Hack Are Moving To Wasabi Wallet Address

The hackers that gained Bitcoin funds in the Twitter hack are transferring the funds to make it harder to trace them.

As per the Elliptical, a cryptocurrency tracing firm shared that funds received from this week’s massive Twitter attack were likely transferred to a Wasabi wallet. The firm believes that hackers are trying to shake the trail of tracking of the scammed funds, despite Bitcoin’s transparent (albeit anonymous) nature. It will become difficult for governments or law enforcers to track the cryptocurrency that all are mixed up.

The wallet identities involved in the hack shows the transaction data of around USD 123,000 that was collected in the attack. Elliptical states that approximately 22% of the scammed funds, around 2.89 Bitcoin was transferred to an address to a Wasabi address.

Almost all the exchanges have legal regulations, have know-your-customer (KYC) measure it becomes difficult to pinpoint from where the funds originally came.

The high-profile accounts that faced attacks include Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and many more. Big companies and organizations also were victims of these attacks. Some of the cryptocurrency exchanges such as Coinbase and Gemini were also targeted.
