Big News! Crypto Exchange Gemini Makes Its Way In U.K.
Winklevoss twins aim to make a global expansion for their Crypto exchange and custodian Gemini.
As a part of this expansion plan, Gemini has made its way to the United Kingdom.
Residents of the UK can now deposit British pounds via debit cards or bank transfers to buy cryptocurrencies via Gemini. The crypto exchange Gemini, supports the U.K. Faster Payments Scheme, SWIFT, Clearing House Automated Payment System (CHAPS), and wire transfers as payment methods.
However, a spokesperson of crypto exchange Gemini denied commenting when asked whether the exchange will support PayPal. In the last week, the crypto community saw that bitFlyer Europe became the first crypto exchange that will allow euro deposits via PayPal to buy cryptocurrencies.
Gemini’s announcement of the UK launch came immediately after the exchange received an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), as well as registration as a crypto asset firm as part of the regulator's fifth anti-money laundering directive (AMLD5).
As per the FCA register, there are two entities of Gemini in the U.K.— Gemini Europe and Gemini Europe Services. It facilitates e-money activities (fiat currency safeguarding and the purchase of crypto using fiat), and the latter facilitates crypto custody and crypto exchange services. One of the spokesperson said,
"This structure best supports Gemini's activities in the U.K."
Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss are the entrepreneurs and investors of the Gemini crypto exchange, operating in the US and many other countries since 2015.
