Anonymity In Crypto Could Put You In The Jail
Russia to take strict against people who don’t reveal their crypto assets. If being anonymous in Russia over crypto caught, then you could be fined, imprisoned, or put in for forced labour.
The Russian Ministry of Finance has taken a strong stand with cryptocurrency regulations. The crypto holders who are not showing their crypto assets (worth 45 million rubles or more) at least twice in a period of three years have to face imprisonment of three years. As the earlier version of the proposed bill mentioned only 5 million rubles as the threshold for unaccountable money.
A time limit has been given for crypto owners to report their holdings by April 30, 2022. Crypto exchanges and miners have to report their details of bitcoin and other crypto transactions to Rosfinmonitoring. If one fails to provide the appropriate transaction information at the given time will have to pay a fine of 50,000 rubles. If there is an incomplete or complete non-payment of tax, the person has to pay a penalty of 40 percent of the total tax amount on all cryptocurrency transactions.
Russian Ministry of Finance has declared a 6-month prison sentence for non-disclosure of crypto assets worth 15 million rubles. The defaulters could also pay fines ‘ranging from 100 thousand to 300 thousand rubles’.
The punishment also includes forced labor of up to two years or deprivation of certain rights for up to three years.
