Bitcoin Miners Earn $4 million within 1 Hour
Bitcoin-the world’s largest cryptocurrency is presently near the $48,000 mark and showering a tremendous growth on people’s wallet, especially on those who mine it. As per the data of Glassnode- blockchain analytics firm, Bitcoin miners earned over $4 million in revenue within one hour today. It’s the highest level ever recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain.
Mining is the process in which transactions are verified and added to the blockchain. With the help of specialised computers, miners contribute to the security of the network. The computer that solves the cryptographic puzzle first wins the freshly minted Bitcoin as a reward. This process is started every 10 minutes.
When a new block is established, miners earn two things: a block reward of 6.25 BTC (currently) and fees paid by Bitcoin users to prioritise their transactions. In all, it’s about 37.5 Bitcoin in block rewards each hour and might be even more if seven blocks are processed instead of six. As per today’s BTC rate, it equates to $2.1 million.
Miners earn maximum from the transaction fees, which has reached a three-year highest price of $25.46 since yesterday with over 2,500 transactions per block, adding another $400,000. This fee fluctuates from day to day and from hour to hour and is highest during the US business hours.
As the price of Bitcoin is surging towards the $50,000, there will be more competition to get transactions in, and users will have to pay a higher fee. That may be a bummer to average users, but undoubtedly fantastic for miners.
