A fake version was created of popular Tor Browser and it was used to access the deep web. Users who were looking to shop on darknet markets, their bitcoin was stolen. According to the reports, this fake version of the browser was promoted by its Russian version on posts published on Pastebin, optimized to rank on search engines for queries related to cryptocurrencies, drugs, censorship, and politicians. The fake website pages copied the Tor project’s official website, but it warned users that their privacy is at risk because their browser is supposedly outdated.
