South African city Johannesburg is still under lockdown because of its recent bitcoin ransomware attack. The number of city computer systems are locked after being hit by the attack. The city council member Funzela Ngobeni stated that the hackers were able to gain control over the systems of the computers and they have a deadline of this past Monday to give a ransom payment of 4 Bitcoin. Currently, the exchange holds less than $40,000 for the infrastructure of the city and as a result, government officials refuse to cooperate with the hackers and seek alternatives to regain control.
