Reportedly, during a virtual event organized by the bank of international settlements, Jerome Powell, the US Federal Reserve Chairman, stated, “all cryptocurrencies are not backed by anything, and the world’s leading cryptocurrency is more like a speculative asset.” Adding further, Jerome Powell said, cryptocurrencies are highly volatile digital assets that are substitutes for gold rather than the dollar.
