WazirX, a cryptocurrency exchange, lost over $230 million in a security breach involving a multisig wallet managed outside its primary custodian, Liminal. The breach was due to a mismatch between the displayed transaction data and the actual signed payload, allowing attackers to transfer control. Liminal confirmed that wallets created within its platform remain secure. Blockchain analytics firm Elliptic suspects North Korean threat actors, possibly the Lazarus Group, are behind the attack. WazirX is working to recover the funds and has blocked further deposits while collaborating with experts on the investigation.
