The developer of the privacy-centric Wasabi Wallet, zkSNACKs, has implemented a ban on U.S. citizens and residents from accessing its platform. Citing recent announcements by U.S. authorities, zkSNACKs has taken strict measures to prohibit U.S. users from utilizing its services. This includes implementing IP address blocking for residents accessing wasabiwallet.io, api.wasabiwallet.io, and zksnacks.com. The decision follows the arrest of the founders of Samourai Wallet on money laundering charges. Additionally, the arrest of Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm, accused of money laundering and sanctions violations, underscores the intensified scrutiny on developers of privacy-focused tools amid allegations of facilitating illicit activities, including for entities like North Korea's Lazarus Group.
