In March 2025, Thai authorities arrested Chinese national Di Wu, 27, in Pattaya for orchestrating a cryptocurrency investment scam that defrauded victims of approximately $618 million. Wu allegedly lured individuals through social media, convincing them to invest in a fake Singapore-based fund via the M-DAQP app. Funds were funneled through Thai "mule" accounts and converted to USDT cryptocurrency before being transferred to Wu's digital wallet. During the arrest, authorities also apprehended her boyfriend, Zhou Zongyon, a Chinese fugitive wanted for kidnapping and money laundering. Both suspects face legal proceedings in Thailand prior to potential extradition to China.
