The U.S. Treasury has sanctioned Philippine-based company Samourai Wallet for its alleged role in a global cryptocurrency scam and money laundering network. The firm is accused of facilitating illicit transactions and enabling cybercriminals to obfuscate the origin of stolen funds, particularly from ransomware and darknet activities. The move is part of Washington’s broader crackdown on crypto platforms that aid financial crimes. Two Samourai Wallet developers were also indicted. U.S. authorities claim the platform laundered over $100 million in criminal proceeds. The sanctions block all U.S. assets linked to the firm and prohibit American entities from engaging with it.
