Standard Chartered and cryptocurrency exchange OKX have launched a pioneering collateral mirroring programme aimed at institutional clients. This initiative allows the use of cryptocurrencies and tokenised money market funds as off-exchange collateral for trading, enhancing both security and capital efficiency. Standard Chartered serves as the regulated custodian, ensuring secure asset storage, while OKX manages collateral and facilitates transactions. The programme, developed in collaboration with Franklin Templeton, is being piloted under Dubai's Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA) framework. Brevan Howard Digital is among the first institutions to onboard, highlighting the growing integration of traditional finance with digital assets.
