The SEC has charged accounting firm Prager Metis with helping clients violate securities laws and with auditor independence violations related to its auditing of FTX. The SEC alleges that Prager Metis failed to comply with auditor independence rules, provided accounting services to clients while simultaneously providing auditing services, and failed to properly audit FTX's financial statements. The SEC's charges are a sign that regulators are taking a tougher stance on the crypto industry and highlight the importance of auditor independence and the need for cryptocurrency exchanges to be properly audited.
