Polish authorities have arrested Dmitry Vasiliev, the former head of the defunct Russian cryptocurrency exchange WEX, at Warsaw Airport following an Interpol notice. Vasiliev is wanted in Kazakhstan for alleged fraud related to the disappearance of $450 million in assets and is also implicated in laundering up to $9 billion through WEX's predecessor, BTC-e. His arrest comes amidst ongoing investigations into fraudulent activities linked to the exchange. While Kazakhstan has requested his extradition, Poland has yet to decide. Notably, cryptocurrency associated with WEX recently showed movement for the first time in years, raising further suspicion.
