A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court by users of BitBNS, a prominent Indian cryptocurrency exchange, seeking the establishment of a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies and an investigation into alleged operational lapses at BitBNS. The petitioners report being unable to withdraw funds since a cyberattack in February 2022, leading to significant financial distress. They have requested the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) or a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry to probe allegations of financial fraud, cyberattacks, and fund mismanagement at BitBNS. The court has issued notices to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), seeking their responses by April 4, 2025.
