A man from Nova Scotia fell victim to a cryptocurrency scam after being targeted on social media. The fraudsters befriended him online, convincing him to invest in a fake cryptocurrency scheme promising lucrative returns. Over time, he was coerced into transferring more than $150,000 USD. The victim discovered the scam when he attempted to withdraw funds, but his money was inaccessible. Authorities have reiterated warnings about the prevalence of online scams, particularly involving cryptocurrency, urging the public to exercise caution, verify investment opportunities thoroughly, and avoid sharing personal or financial information with unverified individuals or platforms.
