The official Microsoft India Twitter account, with over 211,000 followers, was hijacked by cryptocurrency scammers impersonating Roaring Kitty, Keith Gill's online persona. The verified account's gold check lent legitimacy to the scammers' posts. They exploited Gill's recent comeback to lure victims, using the account to reply to tweets and direct followers to a malicious website (presaIe-roaringkitty[.]com) claiming to offer a presale of GameStop (GME) crypto. The site aimed to infect visitors with cryptocurrency wallet drainer malware. This incident highlights the risks even verified accounts can pose and the importance of cybersecurity vigilance.
