India's Financial Intelligence Unit is moving to recover $345 million in unpaid Goods and Services Tax (GST) from seven foreign cryptocurrency exchanges, including Kraken, Bitfinex, and others. These platforms, which have been banned from offering services in India, are being asked to comply with local financial regulations. The exchanges must prove compliance with Indian laws and pay the outstanding taxes. The move is part of India’s broader efforts to regulate the growing cryptocurrency market and ensure foreign exchanges meet the same standards as domestic businesses.
