In Lucknow, cyber fraudsters are recruiting young people including students, contractual workers, and shop or restaurant employees to rent out their bank accounts for quick commissions of ₹10,000 to ₹30,000. Recruited via local handlers, these "mule accounts" receive large transfers from scams like fake investments, job offers, or sextortion. The funds are withdrawn under handler instructions and handed over to crypto brokers who convert them into USDT via peer to peer, non KYC TRC 20 networks like Binance, making the money untraceable. Operations are coordinated from Southeast Asia via encrypted Telegram channels. Police have tracked laundering from ₹5 lakh to ₹5 crore per account.
