Following the US SEC's approval of spot Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on May 23, 2024, over $3 billion worth of Ethereum has been withdrawn from centralized crypto exchanges (CEX), according to CryptoQuant. This significant movement contrasts with the initial market response to spot Bitcoin ETFs. Analysts suggest that spot Ether ETFs may not experience the same initial influx as Bitcoin ETFs due to the complex nature of valuing Ether’s diverse use cases in decentralized finance (DeFi) and smart contracts. Between May 23 and June 2, 2024, the amount of Ether on exchanges decreased by approximately $3.02 billion.
