Surrey RCMP say it has already received 50 reports of fraud in January and February this year, with a loss of $3.2 million and counting in 2024. In 2023, police received 229 reports of cryptocurrency fraud, the majority of which are investment scams, resulting in a loss of about $12 million from various victims.
