PHOTO BY STOCK ART /Getty Images Article content Surrey residents lost more than $12 million to cryptocurrency-based fraud scams last year, and this year’s losses appear on track to surpass that. Surrey RCMP say it has already received 50 reports of fraud in January and February this year, with a loss of $3.2 million and counting in 2024. In 2023, police received 229 reports of cryptocurrency fraud, the majority of which are investment scams, resulting in a loss of about $12 million from various victims.
