Financial scams in France have escalated, with victims losing at least €500 million annually. Cryptocurrency scams have surged since mid-2023, with average losses of €29,000 per victim. Fraudsters employ sophisticated tactics, including AI-generated deepfake videos and fake celebrity endorsements, to deceive investors. A survey revealed that 3.2% of French adults have fallen victim to financial investment scams, nearly triple the figure from 2021, with younger men under 35 disproportionately targeted. In response, authorities have blacklisted nearly 5,000 unauthorized operators and blocked access to 350 fraudulent websites since 2022.
