A cryptocurrency scam in India has defrauded over 1,000 police personnel in the state of Himachal Pradesh. The scam involved a fake local cryptocurrency created by fraudsters in Mandi district. The police personnel were lured into investing in the fake cryptocurrency with promises of high returns. However, after investing their money, the fraudsters disappeared and the cryptocurrency became worthless. The majority of the police personnel who invested in the fake cryptocurrency were duped of crores of rupees. However, some of them made huge gains, became promoters of the scheme, and roped in more investors for it. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating the case and trying to identify the fraudsters.
