Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal has demanded a retraction from the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) over a "misleading" report that claimed Hamas received $90 million worth of crypto funding. In a letter to the WSJ, Grewal said that the report was "based on a fundamental misunderstanding of how cryptocurrency works." He explained that the report had mistakenly counted the entire trading volume of a cryptocurrency exchange as Hamas funding. Grewal also said that the report had failed to provide any evidence that Hamas had actually received any of the crypto funds that were mentioned in the report. He said that the report was "harmful" to the cryptocurrency industry and that it had "undermined public trust" in cryptocurrencies.
