People’s Bank of China (PBoC) has released the white paper of its forthcoming digital CNY (DCEP). The Central Bank has also given an official English name to the digital currency, called e-CNY. China has been at the forefront of CBDC development since its start in 2014. For almost two years, they carried out extensive testing for the Digital Yuan in retail markets through numerous pilot programmes. Thus, the release of the white paper may suggest the conclusion of the testing phase.
