Alex Mashinsky, the founder of Celsius Network, has pleaded guilty to commodities fraud and securities fraud in a case involving misrepresentation of the company's operations and financial health. As part of his plea deal, Mashinsky agreed to forfeit $48 million. The charges stem from allegations that he and Celsius misled investors about the safety of their assets, manipulated the value of the CEL token, and operated an unsustainable business model. These charges could result in a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. Mashinsky’s sentencing is scheduled for April 2025.
