The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) has released new guidelines clarifying the treatment of stablecoins in the country. The guidelines are designed to protect investors and promote market integrity. Under the new guidelines, stablecoin issuers will be required to maintain a suitable reserve of assets held by a qualified custodian for the benefit of crypto asset holders. They must also disclose information about the reserve, including its composition, valuation, and auditing process. Additionally, they must implement risk management measures to protect the reserve and measures to prevent fraud and market manipulation.
