CBI has filed charges against 30 individuals, including two Chinese nationals, for orchestrating a ₹1,000 crore cyber scam involving fake loan apps, illegal data harvesting and extortion. The network allegedly operated call centres across multiple Indian cities, using digital lending platforms to lure victims, access their personal information and threaten them for repayments. Investigators say the accused routed funds through shell companies and crypto channels to hide the money trail. The Chinese suspects are believed to be key operators behind the technical infrastructure and financial flows, with the case now expanding to track international links.
