Brazil has dismissed former U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats of imposing 100% tariffs on BRICS exports, reaffirming its commitment to using local currencies in trade without seeking to replace the U.S. dollar. Meanwhile, Brazilian fintech Méliuz has become Latin America’s first publicly listed company to adopt Bitcoin as a treasury asset. The firm recently purchased 274.52 BTC (around $28.4 million) and now holds over 320 BTC. Méliuz plans to raise R$450 million (approximately $78 million) to buy more Bitcoin, aiming to maximize BTC per share. This dual move signals Brazil’s growing assertiveness in both geopolitics and crypto finance.
